White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said in a statement that Trump "will accept the invitation to meet Kim Jong-un," adding: "We look forward to denuclearization from North Korea. At present, all sanctions and extreme pressure must remain "on Pyongyang.
South Korean President Chung Uy-young's national security adviser said earlier in the White House that Kim Jong-un and Trump would meet by May to reach an agreement to remove nuclear weapons from the Korean Peninsula.
"I told President Trump that during our meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un we were told he was committed to nuclear disarmament," said Chung Ouy-young, after a brief visit to Pyongyang.
